The Shaffers are home based in the breath-taking mountains of Belington, West Virginia. The group consists of Dave Shaffer, his wife Trish, their daughter Cassie and her husband Mike Hymes.
The Shaffers are one of the few groups who still play live music. God has blessed them with musical abilities within the family. Dave plays the keys, Cassie plays the bass guitar and sax, and Mike plays the drums. Time and time again they are complimented on their full sound despite being a three-piece band. With their family harmony and unique style of Gospel Music, they minister effectively to all ages.
The Shaffers have sung locally for several years at churches, county fairs and festivals. Music has always played an active role in their lives since being a part of their home church praise team for several years. In the last 5 years they have stepped out to expand their ministry and to fulfill what God has called them to do. Since stepping out in faith to follow God’s call they have beyond doubt seen the hand of God at work in their ministry.
The Shaffer’s have recorded four projects in the past seven years. Their latest project entitled “Less of Me” was released in August 2007. This project is an assortment of 10 original songs reaching to all ages. It was recorded at Harvest Gospel Studio in Huntington WV.
In September of 2004 The Shaffers came out with their third project entitled “Amazing Love”. This project received very positive response from all ages. It is a collection of hymns, cover tunes and praise and worship. This truly portrays what you would hear in a service with The Shaffers.
Their earlier projects were entitled “Anointing” and “Calvary Changed My Destiny” which were both recorded in Hendersonville TN. Their title cut “Calvary Changed My Destiny” hit #66 on the Top 80 Chart back in February 2005.
In this past year of 2008 they have definitely experienced the faithfulness of God in their own personal lives. They have encountered a difficult experience with Cassie’s health but none the less God has recently done a healing in her body giving her a powerful testimony that is reaching others. They feel this past year has been a turning point for their ministry realizing that through the trials they have faced it has brought them to a deeper relationship with God resulting in a more effective ministry. They recognize that it is even more important to spread the good news and hope of Jesus Christ to others because no one knows what their future holds.
The Shaffer’s wish to carry out the plan that God has called them to do. It’s not about us but all about building the kingdom and seeing souls saved. One thing they desire is to lead people into the presence of God with the purpose of getting the attention off of them and getting people to put all of their focus on God. There’s no greater joy than to see people enter into worship, because that is when lives are changed, hearts are mended and people are set free!
They feel truly blessed to witness what God has been doing through and in their ministry. Their purpose is to see lives changed by the power of Christ through their music. One of their earlier songs “The Best Is Yet To Come” says it all… they believe greater things are yet to come for their ministry and for the body of Christ!
